What happens in a reading?

Here are the answers to some common questions that people have about the sessions you’ll have when you book a reading with me. If you have a question that isn’t answered on here, please post your question below or send me an email at lisapracticallyintuitive.com.

What is a typical session like?

The type of reading that you book with me will determine what kind of work we’ll be doing on our call. Typically, in a general Spirit Guide / Intuitive Reading, you bring the questions and topics that you’d like to discuss. As a clairaudient, I am able to “hear” your Guides and Teachers speak to me as if they are dictating a message for you to read. I bring down their guidance, interpret their message with my gifts of intuition and counseling psychology, and help bring clarity to your situation.

Where does the reading take place?

All of the readings are done by phone.

How do I prepare for a reading? Is there anything I need to do before or during the session with you?

There is not much you need to do to prepare for a reading, other than to bring your questions and issues to our call. Sometimes, my clients will do a brief grounding meditation prior to the reading to ground themselves in order to open their minds and hearts, but it isn’t always necessary. There are no rituals to follow. Just bringing yourself will be fine. Our call will be recorded (and I will email you an mp3 recording of it after our session), so you can choose not to take notes during our call.

What is the general atmosphere of a session with you?

All spiritual work is done on a Divine plane that resides on a very high vibration. That is the level where your Guides are, and the energy that comes through is one that is very light, peaceful, supportive and all-loving. Guides are primarily here to help you during your incarnation in this lifetime, and they are ready to assist whenever you ask. Above all, sessions with me and your Guides are completely non-judgmental. They never, ever judge. Your Guides will never tell you that you’re doing something wrong or out to make you feel bad about anything. In fact, most Guides have a terrific sense of humor! This is a private, compassionate and safe atmosphere for you to openly talk about your issues.

What kinds of questions do people ask in a reading?

Some people come into the reading with a specific question or set of questions and some are just open to hearing what their Guides feel is important at this time.  There’s no right or wrong way of doing it. If you wish to know more about a certain situation, ask.  Your Guides will address it in their response.

Will you or my Guides be able to tell me what my soul purpose is?

Alas, no. They won’t. To do that would take away your lessons and your free will. The decision is always, always yours. However, your Guides will assist you in finding out the answers to your questions by giving you a piece of the puzzle. If you ask them for the next step, they will very often put it right in front of you in the form of a book, a class or a person who can assist you. The key there is to pay attention to what comes in front of you and not dismiss it as “coincidence” because it’s not. :) Please also refer to my blog post “Things I Can’t Answer”.

How often should I get a reading?

I will say as often as you feel drawn to getting on with this (pretty large) caveat:  DO SOMETHING with the information you are given.  Many times, we ask for help, are given that help and perhaps it didn’t come in the way we expected it to so we disregard it.  And we keep asking.  And keep getting help.  And keep putting it to the side.  There is no benefit to you from the readings if you are not willing to put in the work on your part with what is given to you. Okay, so I get a reading and I really want to do something with the information I get.  How do I work with it?

Many times, the Guides will lead you to a specific action to take or an idea to take into meditation.  If you take the information they share and break it down into bits and pieces, it’s easier to accomplish that way.  If you have a friend you can share your insights with, that’s a great way to be accountable to someone for doing the work.

This is also one of the ways a coach can assist you – by helping you look at the pieces that come through and offering ways to take action on it so that you get the greatest benefit from that guidance.

What is a Spiritual Coach?

A spiritual coach assists you in learning how to live with awakened consciousness and is a partner in your  personal transformation.

What’s the difference between getting a reading from you and doing coaching work with you?

A reading is about information – you have specific questions and maybe want some insight into a situation.  As a reader, I bring through that information for you and hand it over to you.  I can clarify if you have questions but basically, my work is to be a channel for that guidance.  You are responsible for what you do with it (or not, as the case many be!)

As a spiritual coach, I bring through the information for you AND work with you to integrate it into your life.  Many times, so much information can come through that it’s overwhelming and people think: “Where do I even start?”.   A coach can help you look at all of it and find a place to start and help you move from there.

This is a big part of the reason I am calling my work Practically Intuitive:  Not only can I bring through guidance BUT I can help you put it into practice so that you see some changes right away.

I purchased a Cutting Cord of Attachment session but I don’t know which cord to cut. Can you tell me?

Yes. If you aren’t sure which cords to cut first or to cut at all, I can take a look at your energy field at the beginning of the call and let you know what I sense.

How many cords of attachment can we cut in one session?

Cutting a cord of attachment is sort of like psychic-level surgery. If it’s a major cord, we will typically cut one cord in that session. Major cords tend to have a lot of information contained within them, and I will decipher what’s inside the cords, and highlight and clarify what was in there so that you get the lessons and insights you need to know. If the cords are minor (meaning that there’s not a whole lot of energetic data and information to interpret and discuss), then we may be able to cut two cords in one session. It all depends, and I can look at your energy field at the beginning of our call and let you know what I sense.
